PETALING JAYA:
AirAsia's 10,000 free return tickets to Sabah and Sarawak will be
available for booking tomorrow for travel between Jan 14 and Feb 4.
The free seats are only valid for
flights departing from peninsular Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak (Kota
Kinabalu, Kuching, Labuan, Sandakan, Miri, Tawau. Sibu, Bintulu) or from
Sabah and Sarawak to the peninsula (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Baru).
In a statement yesterday, AirAsia said that the offer was part of the 1Malaysia Integration Programme with AirAsia launched last Saturday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. “I am very excited with this free seat giveaway and hope that this small gesture will further elevate the efforts of integration between communities of Sabah and Sarawak with peninsular Malaysia,” said AirAsia chief executive officer Aireen Omar. She said the programme was AirAsia's way of giving back to the rakyat for their support. A special 1Malaysia aircraft livery was also launched last Saturday to commemorate the AirAsia initiative. She noted that bookings for the free seats was open to all Malaysians with valid MyKads beginning at 12:01am on Jan 9 and will be open for 24 hours. She said fares and fuel surcharge for the free flights would also be waived with passengers only having to pay airport tax. The offer does not apply to domestic flights within the peninsula or within Sabah and Sarawak. Baggage allocation, in-flight meals, seat selection and other value-added services are not included in the free seats offer. By Martin Carvalho / The Star |
