KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21, 2015:
Schools will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Bentong in Pahang, as well as Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Betong.
This is according to a statement by the Education Ministry today, based on Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 3pm today which were found to be at unhealthy or very unhealthy levels.
“The closure involves 4,778 schools in total and 2,696,110 students in the states and divisions.
“State Education Departments and Education District Offices involved are required to inform schools and parents in their respective areas of the closures immediately.
“State Education Departments, Education District Offices including school administrations across the country are also required to constantly monitor API readings which are published from time to time by the authorities.
“In the event of an increase to unhealthy or very unhealthy levels, the relevant parties can take action at their respective levels as was determined by the Education Ministry,” read the statement dated today.
