Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (English: University of Malaysia, Sarawak) or UNIMAS was officially incorporated on 24 December 1992. UNIMAS is Malaysia's eighth University, established just after the declaration of Vision 2020. Recently, UNIMAS has been ranked at 191st in Asian University Rankings 2011 by QS World University Rankings®.
The University took in its first students numbering 118 in 1993 with the opening of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Resource Science and Technology. These students were temporarily located at Kolej Latihan Telekom, Simpang Tiga, Kuching until in 1994 the University moved to its East Campus in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The University’s East Campus at Kota Samarahan was officially launched by the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on Independence Day, 31 August 1993.
The University consists of eight Faculties, three Institutes and seven Centres.

Universiti Utara Malaysia (English: Northern University of Malaysia, (UUM) is a public university in the town of Sintok, Kedah. Utara means 'northern' in the Malay language. It was formally incorporated on 16 February 1984.The university was established with the specific mission of providing a leadership role for management education in the country. Thus, the university is also known as a management university. The academic establishments in UUM include College of Business (UUM COB), College of Law, Government and International Studies (UUM COLGIS) and College of Arts and Sciences (UUM CAS). UUM is the first university in the country to be a fully wired using fiber-optic cables.The university has 29 computer laboratories in academic and administrative buildings on the campus, providing students with access points for e-services.

The International Islamic University Malaysia (Arabic: الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية ماليزيا‎), also known as IIUM or UIAM, is a public publicly funded university in Malaysia. Its main campus is located in Gombak, Selangor with its Centre for Foundation Studies situated in Petaling Jaya and its medical-centric branch in Kuantan, Pahang. The university is sponsored by eight different governments from the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). It is completely distinct from the International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan and International Islamic University in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (University of Science, Malaysia; acronym: USM) is a public university in Malaysia. There are three campuses: one in the island of Penang (Main Campus), one in Kelantan (Health Campus), and one in Nibong Tebal (Engineering Campus). There is offshore collaboration with KLE University, India offering the Doctor of Medicine (USM) undergraduate degree. USM plans to open a Global Campus (Kuala Lumpur Campus) located at Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLCE). With around 28,287 (postgraduates and undergraduates) students in 2009, USM is one of the biggest universities in terms of enrollment in Malaysia. The number of lecturers is about 1,479, which leads to a student-lecturer ratio of around 1:19.

Universiti Teknologi MARA ( English: MARA University of Technology) is a coeducational public university with its main campus located in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. It is the flagship institution of the Universiti Teknologi MARA System, the largest university in Malaysia in terms of size and student enrollment and the only public university carrying out intakes twice a year.
The university's faculties comprise 4,000 academics, scholars and researchers. The university has expanded nationwide with four satellite campuses, 12 branch campuses, nine city campuses and 21 affiliated colleges. The University of Malaya is a public research university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the oldest university in Malaysia. In post-nominals the university's name is currently abbreviated as UM and Malaya during the pre-independence period.
The University was founded in 1949 as a public-funded tertiary institution. Today, it has more than 2,500 faculty members of various expertise. In 2012, UM was granted autonomy status by the Ministry of Higher Education.
In 2011, UM is ranked at 401 to 500 in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s 2011 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). And the THES – QS World University Rankings has ranked UM in the top 200 universities of the world.

 

National University of Malasyia

The National University of Malaysia (Abbreviation: NUM; Malay: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; Abbreviated UKM) is a public university located in Bangi, Selangor which is about 35 km south of Kuala Lumpur. Its teaching hospital, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM) is located in Cheras and also has a branch campus in Kuala Lumpur. Currently there are 17,500 undergraduate students enrolled, and 5,105 postgraduate students of which 1368 are foreign students from 35 different countries.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is one of the five research universities in the country. It was ranked by The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) at number 185 in its annual ranking of the world's top 200 universities for 2006.[3]

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (also known as University of Technology, Malaysia, UTM) is the oldest public engineering and technological university in Malaysia. The university specializes in technical studies, with separate faculties for the various engineering divisions such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Biomedical engineering. It also has faculties for Education, Pure Sciences, Management, and Human Resources Development. It is the country's major source of graduate engineers and similar professionals. Alumni of UTM have been instrumental in developing sectors related to engineering and technology in Malaysia.
With over 20,000 students on campus, more than 25% of them are postgraduates. Since the 1990s, the number of foreign students, particularly from neighbouring Asian countries, the Middle East, and Africa, has been increasing, especially in postgraduate programs.
