“It is unfortunate with such tragedy which has claimed casualties, there are still people trying to politicise the matter by talking about hero and villain. Let me stress that security is a collective issue and there must be collective statement like the issue in Palestine not long ago,” Anwar told a ceramah event in Lanchang, Pahang.
Anwar said repeated calls on prime minister Najib Razak to hold emergency parliamentary meeting to discuss the invasion have fallen on deaf ears.
Worse, the parliamentary opposition leader said the UMNO-controlled media have continued to link him to the Lahad Datu intrusion without any evidences.
“To the extent that the song ‘Sabah nak hilang (BN will lose Sabah)' which I had sung in a ceramah is interpreted as my instruction to the Sulu militants to invade Lahad Datu," he jibed, adding that the song's next phrase is ‘UMNO melayang’ (UMNO to disappear).
Anwar again chided his enemies' tendency to blame everything on him.
“Imagine, Real Madrid was fighting Manchester United, Manchester lost, I was blamed because the referee was a Turkish, and I have good relationship with the Turkish president, this is getting hilarious!” he said.
This afternoon, members of several pro-UMNO NGOs including former PAS member and Selangor state exco Hasan Ali and BN's Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali held a demonstration in front of the National Mosque, accusing Anwar of being the mastermind behind the Lahad Datu violence.
