Bollywood's Kareena Kapoor to embrace Islam?

Written by Blitz

MUMBAI, Sep 30: One of the front-ranking actresses of Indian cine world named 'Bollywood' and member of famous Kapoor Family, Kareena Kapoor alian Bebo has decided to change her religion after she knots with Saif Ali Khan, actor and member of Pataudi Nawab family in India.

According to sources inside Kapoor Family, most of the members of the Bollywood actress are showing anger at Kareena's decision to convert into Islam, as Saif Ali Khan has been pursuing her to follow the path of his mother – Sharmila Tagore, who embraced Islam after marrying Saif Ali Khan's father and changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana.

In 1946 Sharmila was born in a Hindu Bengali family in Hyderabad State to Gitindranath Tagore who was then deputy general manager of the East India Company owner of Elgin Mills. Gitindranath was the son of Kanakendranath Tagore who is the son of noted painter Gaganendranath Tagore. She continued to remain in her Hindu faith until 1969, when she married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Nawab of Pataudi - former captain of the Indian cricket team, in a ceremony held on 27 December 1969.

Saif Ali Khan married actress Amrita Singh in October 1991 and after thirteen years of marriage and two children (son Ibrahim Ali Khan and daughter Sara Ali Khan), the couple divorced in 2004. The children live with their mother.

Khan spent his childhood in a Muslim atmosphere, reading the Quran, with his grandmother Sajida Sultan, Begum of Bhopal, being the centre of his religious education. Khan says that "Religion played a major role in my upbringing." Khan also states that his family is "cool or rather massively open–minded about religious matters." For example, he acknowledges that his daughter is born into a Muslim family; however he states that he will not decide her religion for her.

Amrita was born to a Sikh-Muslim family. She is the daughter of Rukhsana Sultana, who was a political activist and Shavinder Singh, who was an army officer. Her maternal grandmother Zarina, was the elder sister of actor Begum Para, mother of actor Ayub Khan. She was also the daughter of Mian Ehsan Ul Haque, who came from a landowning family. He was a judge and the Chief Justice of the highest court in the princely state of Bikaner, northern Rajasthan. Through her father, she is a relative of novelist Khushwant Singh and businessman Sir Sobha Singh of New Delhi. In 1991, she married Saif Ali Khan, who was twelve-year's junior to her.

After divorcing Amrita Singh, Saif Ali Khan dated Rosa Catalano, a Swiss model born in Italy, whom he met in Kenya, for three years. Catalano later revealed that he had not told her about his earlier marriage and children, and that she learnt about them only after she came to India. They were later said to be considering marriage, but then broke off.

Saif Ali Khan's current girlfriend Kareena Kapoor was born into a family where her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and elder sister Karisma were actors; she faced the media spotlight at a young age but did not make her acting debut until the 2000 film Refugee.

Her melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham - became India's highest-grossing film in the overseas market in 2001, and is one of her greatest commercial successes to date. After receiving negative reviews for a series of repetitive roles, Kapoor accepted more demanding parts to avoid being typecast and was recognized by critics for displaying greater versatility as an actress.

Her portrayal of a sex worker in Chameli (2004) proved to be the turning point in her career, and she was later noted for her performances in the critically acclaimed films Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006). She went on to play the lead female role in the Imtiaz Ali-directed romantic comedy Jab We Met (2007, for which she received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress) and the drama 3 Idiots (2009, the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time).

Inspired by Bollywood actresses like Nargis and Meena Kumari and her sister Karisma, Kapoor is known for her fashion style and her film roles (both of which have made her a trend-setter for young women). Her contributions to the film industry have garnered her numerous achievements (including nine nominations and six Filmfare Awards), making her a leading actress in Hindi cinema. In addition to film acting, Kapoor is a stage performer and has launched her own clothing line (in association with retail chain Glabus).

Most of the members of Kareena Kapoor's family though are excited about her marrying actor Saif Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi and a billionaire owning number of business conglomerates; they are unwilling seeing her leaving Hinduism and embrace Islam.

Kareena Kapoor's mother, actress Babita, who is one of the strongest supporters of Kareena's decision to marry Saif Ali Khan, is also arguing the issue of her religious conversion. But, family of Saif Ali reportedly had told Kareena Kapoor that, unless she changes religion, the marriage may not take place. They even told her that the legal heirs to Pataudi Family cannot be from any non-Muslim background, indicating, Kareena Kapoor's children should surely bear Muslim identity.

The sources inside both Kapoor and Khan Families indicated that the issue of religious conversion of Kareena Kapoor had stalled the wedding ceremony for months and finally Kareena Kapoor has made her mind to embrace Islam and change her name from Kareena Kapoor to Kareena Khan. But inner circle of Kareena Kapoor are alerting her about consequences in her cine career, if she would abandon Hinduism, which would hurt the religious emotions of millions of her Hindu fans around India and the world.

Considering this possible consequence, Kareena Kapoor and her mother reportedly has suggested Saif Ali Khan to complete the religious conversion and marriage registration formalities in any third country, while in India, they only will have a mock wedding ceremony. Additionally, after the marriage, Kareena Kapoor will complete necessary legal formalities for changing her name from Kareena Kapoor to Kareena Khan, which shall be used in all of her legal documents, without giving any details about the reason behind changing of the name.

Najib umum BR1M 2.0, RM250-RM500

Bajet 2013: Subsidi gula dikurangkan 20 sen sekilo mulai esok

Subsidi gula dikurangkan sebanyak 20 sen sekilogram bermula esok, demikian diumumkan Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
